The Blackstone Charitable Foundation Names Pamela Haxby-Cote Regional Director of its Entrepreneurship Program “Blackstone LaunchPad” in Montana

September 16, 2013 – The Blackstone Charitable Foundation today announced that Pamela Haxby-Cote will serve as Regional Director of Blackstone LaunchPad in Montana. The Blackstone Charitable Foundation’s three-year, $2 million grant, which established the campus entrepreneurship program at the University of Montana and Montana State University in partnership with Headwaters RC&D, was announced in July from the Montana State Capital in Helena.

A native of Butte, Montana, Pam joins Blackstone LaunchPad from Senator Jon Tester’s office where she served as Butte Regional Director since 2008. In this capacity, Pam led Senator Tester’s economic development initiatives in Montana including the coordination of thirteen Small Business Opportunity Workshops. She previously served as the Senior Economic Development Specialist in the Office of Economic Development under Governor Schweitzer’s Administration. Pam received her undergraduate degree from Montana Tech in Butte.

Amy Stursberg, Executive Director of the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, said, “Our search for a Regional Director attracted many high-caliber candidates who were inspired by the chance to help make this program a success. We are thrilled that someone of Pam’s caliber is willing to lend her extensive experience and knowledge to support entrepreneurship and job creation in Montana.”

Senator Max Baucus said, “It takes all hands on deck to put Montana jobs first. The Blackstone Charitable Foundation’s investment in Montana students will set them up to hit the ground running upon graduation.”

Senator Jon Tester said, “Pam’s deep knowledge of economic development and her tireless work made her a valuable member of my team.  I am excited for her new opportunity and look forward to working with her to strengthen Montana’s economy through the Blackstone Launchpad program.”

Pamela Haxby-Cote said, “Senator Tester has done great work for Montana’s businesses and economy, and I’m proud to build on his work and my experience to grow the Blackstone Launchpad program in Montana. I look forward to helping to train the next generation of entrepreneurs ready to find more ways to strengthen our economy.”

Blackstone LaunchPad at the University of Montana and Montana State University will foster connections between the university campus, business community, and local entrepreneurs to create an environment that nurtures young entrepreneurs and provides them the skills and network necessary to succeed. Unlike traditional college curricular programs available to limited school populations, Blackstone LaunchPad is open to all 30,000 students at the University of Montana and Montana State University, regardless of major.
