Continually Innovating

Technology is most impactful when it serves a direct purpose for our people and our clients. We aim to deliver streamlined workflows, accurate and reliable data, and greater access to information – all in the time and format that our clients need.

Investing in Technology

Technology is at the core of everything we do. We not only look to hire the best talent within the firm but also work collaboratively with cutting-edge companies across the industry. As part of this strategy, we make early-stage investments in some of our closest partners through Blackstone Innovations Investments.

Enabling Scale

Our laser-like focus on problem solving and our creative, entrepreneurial approach allow our relatively small group to support hundreds of billions of dollars in firmwide AUM. Each individual on our team is a key contributor to Blackstone’s success.

OUR ROLES

We are forward-thinking problem solvers who can take projects from idea to implementation.

Our open, iterative design process and rapid pace of development mean that everyone on the team has the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one.

Our software engineers develop innovative technologies that are already changing the alternative asset management industry from the ground up. They work hand-in-hand with other engineers and business analysts to design, build, deploy and support the core of Blackstone Technology and Innovations’ suite of applications. Internal applications are built using a highly scalable microservice architecture that is deployed via containers to our cloud-hosted Kubernetes environments. Key technologies in this framework include OpenAPI, Kafka, Docker, AWS, .NET Core, Python, Snowflake and Tableau. From optimizing data retrieval to scaling out infrastructure or integrating complex systems with elegant solutions, our engineers are always challenged with meaningful and interesting work.

Our business analysts work closely with all stakeholders across the full development lifecycle of each project. They have the opportunity not only to tackle the challenges of the day, but to use their creativity and foresight to address future opportunities. They take ownership of specific functionality areas within our applications, writing detailed design documents to outline specifications, workflows and user interfaces. Our business analysts and the essential role they play are another example of what we believe keeps Blackstone ahead of the competition.

Our data engineers give power and meaning to the millions of data points processed at Blackstone. They design, implement and extend core systems that enable data science and data visualization. These systems include our data warehouse and data pipelines, as well as platform tools that help data scientists and analysts throughout the firm and at Blackstone’s portfolio companies. Our team also owns Blackstone’s broad and growing self-service data visualization stack, including the design, development and curation of golden-copy analytics data sources.

Our Risk and Security team creates the next generation of innovative security solutions, protecting one of the world’s leading investment firms. Information and data security are essential to keeping our firm safe, making this team a core function at Blackstone.

Our cloud engineers leverage first-class tools, technologies and practices to develop Blackstone’s next generation platform for the public cloud. They focus on using software defined infrastructure, containerization solutions and automation frameworks to provide the core systems and pipelines that help enable and accelerate innovation at Blackstone. With a constantly evolving cloud ecosystem and increasing demand for cloud native approaches, cloud engineers are tasked with providing relevant, critical and impactful solutions for the firm.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

One of our primary missions is to recruit and retain talented individuals, and in doing so, create a strong, diverse and inclusive community.

We believe that diversity, equity & inclusion should drive how we build our teams, cultivate leaders and innovate.

Women Innovators Program

Blackstone’s Women Innovators Program is a one-day program that exposes students interested in pursuing a career in software development to the powerful role of technology in financial strategy. The program introduces students to the knowledge and skills that will be necessary for a well-guided career path in technology.

Diverse Innovators Program

Blackstone’s Diverse Innovators Program is a one-day program that works with groups that have historically been underrepresented in the technology sector. This program aims to show students what it’s like to work in a technology role at Blackstone – offering resume and interview workshops, seminars and networking events.

Sprinternships

We participate in the yearly Sprinternship program promoted by Cornell Tech and the City University of New York. These short internships give female students valuable exposure, experience and credentials early on in their college careers, making them more competitive when they are ready to apply for full-time positions and summer internships.

BLACKSTONE INNOVATIONS INVESTMENTS

We invest in early-stage companies aligned with areas of strategic importance to Blackstone.

Deep engagement with our closest technology partners is critical to pushing innovation forward at the firm. We are constantly looking for ways to partner with new companies that are well-positioned to address pain points within our industry and across Blackstone’s portfolio companies.
