Blackstone Inc. and its affiliates (“Blackstone”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respect your concerns about privacy. This Global Job  Applicant Privacy Notice (“Privacy Notice”) describes the types of personal information we obtain and process about individuals applying and/or being considered for a work with us (whether as an employee, intern, consultant, contractor or other type of worker), how we use the personal information, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available regarding our use of the personal information. This Privacy Notice also describes the measures we take to safeguard the personal information and how job applicants can contact us about our privacy practices. [ 1 ]

The entity responsible for the collection and processing of your personal information is the Blackstone entity to which you submit your application form. You can identify the Blackstone entity to which you submit your application form via the company name provided on the relevant job description, or by consulting the relevant local entities listed in Blackstone’s Form 10-K filing.

Personal Information We Collect

When you apply and/or are being considered for a position with Blackstone, we collect the following types of personal information about you:

  • Contact and identification information, including first and last name, address, country, phone number, e-mail address, signature, government-issued identification information as required or permitted under applicable law (such as Social Security / Insurance number or driver’s license or state identification card number), passport information (or other information provided for identity verification), travel status, emergency contact, unique personal identifiers (such as applicant ID, unique pseudonym, or user alias / ID), and other information needed to make travel arrangements for interviews;
  • Demographic information, including, to the extent permitted or required by applicable law, information regarding age, sex, gender, military and veteran status, disability, racial or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation (not collected in the Middle East) for diversity and equal opportunity purposes;
  • Application information, including the role or roles for which you are applying or being considered, how you heard about the role, login ID or username and password if you are applying online, any information in forms we ask you to complete, and information collected during your participation in an interview or that you provide while completing an assessment, test, or exercise, such as a picture, audio, and video content. If you are applying online or complete our application for employment form, we will request responses to our application questions where required for compliance with our legal obligations or to protect our legal interests;
  • Talent management information, including information about your work experience and job history (including history of compensation and benefits, past job title and job description, and past performance-related information, such as evaluations and training), education information and records (including transcripts), qualifications, languages and skills, desired salary, references, CV / resume (other information if included in your CV / resume, such as your nationality, citizenship, birthplace, date of birth, permanent / temporary residence, photograph, marital status, spouse name, number of children, or hobbies), cover letter, relevant personal interests, attributes, career aspirations and plans, and files that you submit to us by e-mail or written correspondence;
  • Information required for pre-employment checks, including, to the extent permitted or required by applicable law, including criminal record checks or other pre-employment background screening, including of your financial history and associations with government officials, social media account information and activity, and for identity verification;
  • Information that might be required to assist you and (where applicable) family members with any immigration/visa application(s); and
  • Inferences drawn from other personal information, including, to the extent permitted by applicable law, information included in personality, cognitive, behavioral, and psychometric tests that you undertake.

Your decision to apply for a position and provide your personal information to us is voluntary. However, if you apply online, an asterisk (*) indicates the required information on our forms. If you choose not to provide some or all of the required or optional personal information that is requested for your application, our ability to consider your application may be limited.

In addition to the personal information we collect directly from you, we may obtain certain of the personal information listed above from third-party sources, as permitted by applicable law. This includes our portfolio companies and recruitment agencies that send us your CV, background screening providers who may gather information about you directly from you or from public sources (such as government directories and social media where permitted by applicable law), travel agencies that we engage to make travel arrangements for interview purposes, service providers that conduct and interpret personality, cognitive, behavioral, psychometric and other tests, educational institutions, professional regulatory bodies, publicly accessible directories and sources (for anti-money laundering purposes), credit reference agencies, referrals (such as previous employers) that you indicate in your application for us to contact, and other third-party service providers.

How We Use Personal Information We Collect

We process the personal information that you provide to us directly or that we receive via a recruiter or other third-party source for legitimate business purposes, after we take into account your rights and interests, including to:

  • Process your job application, make a hiring decision and communicate with you about your application;
  • Assess your suitability for the role you are applying (or being considered) for;
  • Invite you for an interview or other pre-employment screening test;
  • Make a hiring decision;
  • Support the job application process, evaluate, and assess your experience and qualifications;
  • Assessing the results of any personality, cognitive, behavioral, psychometric or other tests that you took as part of your application, in order to consider your suitability for the role;
  • Conduct pre-employment and other employment-related screening and checks, to the extent permitted by applicable law, such as background checks, reference checks, and social media searches to assess your experience and qualifications and suitability for a role;
  • Provide immigration assistance (where applicable);
  • Monitor, audit, and improve our recruitment processes;
  • Generate reports, insights, and analysis in connection with our recruitment processes;
  • Manage our career portal and provide technical support;
  • Monitor equality of opportunity, including monitoring and supporting diversity of job applicants (where permitted by applicable law);
  • Verify your identity, residency, and right / eligibility to work;
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity, and prosecute those responsible for that activity;
  • Understand the effectiveness of and improve our recruitment content, communications and interactions with applicants (such as through professional social media); and
  • Comply with legal or regulatory requirements.

It is in our legitimate interests under applicable law to process personal information for the purposes described above, as appointing a suitable candidate to the role you are applying (or being considered) for would be of benefit to the business and fulfil a business need. Processing of your personal information for the purposes described above also is necessary to carry out our obligations in the context of your potential employment with us.

Where required or permitted by applicable law, we will process your personal information to conduct pre-employment screening and background checks (as described above) in accordance with applicable legal requirements, such as obtaining your consent where required by law or relying on another legal basis, where permitted by law. All final decisions on candidates are made by Blackstone personnel and are not solely based on automated screening processes.

We may also use the personal information we collect to protect Blackstone against and prevent fraud, claims, and other liabilities and to comply with or enforce applicable legal requirements, industry standards, and our policies and terms. We use personal information for these purposes when it is necessary to protect, exercise, or defend our legal rights or when we are required to do so by applicable law.

In addition, we use personal information that you provide to us to take pre-contractual steps and complete the on-boarding process if we offer you a position.

If we plan to use the personal information that you provide for another purpose, we will provide additional notice to inform you about the purposes for which we will use the personal information and our legal basis for doing so.

Automated Processing and AI

We may use certain artificial intelligence tools (“AI Tools”) for our legitimate business interests. These interests include improving the efficiency, quality, and speed of our recruitment processes. These tools use artificial intelligence services that we license from third parties, including OpenAI and Harver. Personal information may be contained within the documents (such as your CV) and information uploaded to our AI Tools to assist with our recruitment processes; however, they are not used to solely automate decision making and the AI Tools will not be relied upon without human review for accuracy and appropriateness.

Information That We Collect Automatically

We use automated means to collect information about your use of our career portal when applying for a position with Blackstone, such as the time and duration of your visit, search query terms you enter through the portal, location information, services and solutions you viewed, and how you interact with content offered through our career portal.

We may also collect technical information, including device identifiers, online identifiers, IP address, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system, browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with websites or applications, including the full URL, clickstream to, through, and from our portal (including date and time), page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page.

How We Share Personal Information

We may share the personal information that we collect about you with the Blackstone entity where you apply for a job, our portfolio companies, as applicable, and any assigned recruiters who have recommended you to us. Also, we share applicant personal information with our headquarters, Blackstone Inc., located in the US, for legitimate business purposes, such as coordinating our recruitment activities and administering our job applicant databases.

In addition, we share personal information with our technology and service provider located in the US, who is hosting and managing our career portal on our behalf. From time to time, we may share your personal information with third-party service providers in the U.S. and certain other jurisdictions which assist us with recruitment tasks, conduct pre-employment background checks and social media screening (including through use of AI technology, subject to human review), conduct and interpret personality, cognitive, behavioral, and psychometric tests, make travel arrangements, and manage expense reimbursement for job applicants on our behalf. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent if we disclose personal information, including sensitive data, about you to third parties.

We require our third-party service providers by contract to use personal information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and to implement appropriate data security and confidentiality obligations. To obtain more information about our third-party service providers processing job applicant data, including those outside the country in which you reside, please contact us as indicated below.

We also may disclose the personal information we collect (i) if we are required or permitted to do so by law or legal process, for example, due to a court order or a request from a law enforcement agency, (ii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, (iii) in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or other illegal activity, and (iv) in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, dissolution, or liquidation), including as part of the due diligence process.

Data Transfers

Subject to applicable law, we may transfer the personal information we collect about you to the United States and recipients in countries other than the country in which the information was originally collected or in which you reside, including to service providers and other entities of Blackstone (see Appendix A to our Blackstone Privacy Notice). Those countries may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. Where we transfer personal information outside of Switzerland, the UK, the European Economic Area, or other territories subject to data transfer restrictions, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, including by entering into the European Commission’s EU Standard Contractual Clauses or other safeguards required by applicable law. Data Retention

Blackstone will keep your personal information for the time period necessary to complete the job application process and the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, taking into account applicable statute of limitation periods and records retention requirements under applicable law. Inactive applicant accounts and records about unsuccessful job applicants are deleted in accordance with our records retention schedule.

Rights, Choices, and Complaints

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to request access to, or rectification or erasure of, the personal information we maintain about you, to request the restriction of, or object to, the processing of your personal information, and request we export the personal information we process about you to another company. Where we rely on your consent under applicable law, you may withdraw your consent at any time. Subject to applicable law, the withdrawal of your consent may be subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Additional rights may be available to you under applicable law.

If you are a California resident, please see Appendix A of this Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice called “California Job Applicant Privacy Notice” for more information about your privacy rights.

To submit a rights request, you can use our online form or contact us as indicated below, and we will respond as required by applicable law.

If you have a complaint or grievance regarding the processing of your personal information, including if you believe there has been an infringement of applicable data protection law, you may submit a complaint or grievance by contacting us as indicated below or by using our online form (for individuals based in the UK only), and we will respond as required by applicable law. In addition, you may have the right to complain to the body regulating data protection in your country but we recommend that you contact us first so we can try to resolve your issue. Subject to applicable law, you may be required to go through our complaints and grievance procedure before contacting the body regulating data protection in your country.

How We Protect Personal Information

We implement technical and organizational safeguards to maintain an appropriate level of security and confidentiality for your personal information, in accordance with our policies and applicable law.

Third-Party Links

Our career portal may contain links to other third-party websites that are not operated by Blackstone. These linked sites are not under our control and, as such, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of any linked websites. If you choose to use any third-party sites, any personal information collected by the third-party’s site will be controlled by the privacy notice of that third party. We strongly recommend that you take the time to review the privacy policies of any third parties to which you provide information.

Updates to Our Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our privacy practices. Updated versions will be posted on the Blackstone careers page.

Appendix A: California Job Applicant Privacy Notice

This California Job Applicant Privacy Notice supplements the Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice and describes the types of personal information we collect about California residents who apply for jobs with Blackstone (“Job Applicants”). Certain terms used in this Notice have the meanings given to them in the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020) and its implementing regulations (collectively, the “CCPA”).

Collection and Use of Personal Information

Blackstone may collect the categories of personal information described in the “Personal Information We Collect” section of the Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice. This includes the following categories of personal information as defined under the CCPA: (1) Identifiers; (2) Personal information described in California Civil Code Section 1798.80(e); (3) Characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law; (4) Professional or employment-related information; (5) Non-public education information; and (6) Inferences drawn from any of the foregoing categories of personal information.

Blackstone may use (and may have used during the 12-month period prior to the Last Updated date of the Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice) personal information for the purposes described in the “How We Use The Personal Information We Collect” section of the Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice, including the following relevant “business purposes” as they are described in the CCPA:

  • Performing services, including maintaining or servicing accounts, processing or fulfilling orders and transactions, verifying Job Applicants’ information, processing payments, providing analytics services, providing storage, or providing similar services;
  • Auditing, including auditing compliance;
  • Certain short-term, transient uses;
  • Helping to ensure security and integrity;
  • Providing advertising and marketing services;
  • Debugging to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;
  • Undertaking internal research for technological development and demonstration; and
  • Undertaking activities to verify or maintain the quality or safety of a service or device that is owned, manufactured, manufactured for, or controlled by us, and to improve, upgrade, or enhance them.

Blackstone does not collect or process sensitive personal information for purposes of inferring characteristics about Job Applicants.

To the extent Blackstone processes deidentified information, Blackstone will maintain and use the information in deidentified form and will not attempt to reidentify the information unless permitted by applicable law.

Retention of Personal Information

Blackstone will retain personal information about Job Applicants as described in the “Data Retention” section of the Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice.

Sources of Personal Information

During the 12-month period prior to the Last Updated date of the Global Job Applicant Privacy Notice, Blackstone may have obtained personal information about Job Applicants from the following categories of sources:

  • Directly from you;
  • Your devices;
  • Individuals who act as references;
  • Our affiliates;
  • Vendors who provide services on our behalf;
  • Recruiting and talent management agencies;
  • Portfolio companies or business partners;

      Blackstone does not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes personal information about Job Applicants.

      California Consumer Privacy Rights

        If you are a Job Applicant, you may have certain choices regarding your personal information, as described below.

        • Access: You have the right to request, twice in a 12-month period, that we disclose to you the personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and sold or shared about you.
        • Correction: You have the right to request that we correct the personal information we maintain about you, if that information is inaccurate.
        • Deletion: You have the right to request that we delete certain personal information we have collected from you.

          Verifying Requests

            To help protect your privacy and maintain security, we will take steps to verify your identity before granting you access to your personal information or complying with your access, deletion, or correction request. We may verify your identity by requiring you to authenticate your e-mail address or provide information about your prior interactions with us, such as positions for which you have applied. In addition, if you ask us to provide you with specific pieces of personal information, we may require you to sign a declaration under penalty of perjury that you are the Job Applicant whose personal information is the subject of the request.

            Additional Information

              If you choose to exercise any of your rights under the CCPA, you have the right to not receive discriminatory treatment by us. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may charge a reasonable fee to comply with your request.
