Blackstone Announces Appointment of Jeff Margolis, Leading Healthcare Information Technology Executive, as Senior Advisor
New York – January 15, 2021 – Blackstone (NYSE:BX) today announced the appointment of Jeff Margolis, former Chairman and CEO of TriZetto and the prior CEO and current Chairman of Welltok, Inc., as a Senior Advisor. Mr. Margolis brings more than 35 years of knowledge and experience growing innovative healthcare technology and service organizations, from early-stage through category-leadership, to advise Blackstone and its portfolio companies.

Mr. Margolis’ extensive experience includes a decade as a Chief Information and Technology Officer, followed by 20 years as the CEO and/or Chairman of publicly traded and private healthcare technology companies. He most recently served as the Chairman and CEO at Welltok, Inc., where, over seven years, he led the company from a pre-revenue start-up to become a leading enterprise consumer activation company, which engaged with consumers 193 million times in 2020. Before joining Welltok, Inc., Mr. Margolis founded and spent 14 years at TriZetto Corporation, the first vertical SaaS enterprise software company, where he served as chairman and CEO. He is the author of several books, including his soon-to-be-released Not Just In Sickness, But Also In Health (ForbesBooks 2021).
Additionally, Mr. Margolis currently serves as Chairman at NextGen Healthcare (NASDAQ:NXGN), Vice Chairman at TriNetX and also as a board member at Alignment Healthcare. In the not-for-profit world, he serves as a board member of Hoag Hospital and is Chairman of Hoag Clinic, and is also Chairman of the University of California at Irvine’s Center for Digital Transformation. Jeff is an AIPCA Certified Global Management Accountant and a Leadership Fellow with the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in Business Administration–Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ram Jagannath is the Global Head of Healthcare, responsible for investing across Blackstone’s Private Equity, Tactical Opportunities and Growth businesses, based in New York. Since joining Blackstone in 2019, Mr. Jagannath has led Blackstone’s investments in HealthEdge, Burgess Group, Bright Health, Cryoport (NASDAQ: CYRX), ZO Skin Health, Altruista Health, Ginger, Hydrogen Health, Wellframe, Medable, Life Science Logistics,and DNAnexus,and was involved in Blackstone’s investments in Alnylam/inclisiran royalty, Precision Medicine Group and Advarra. He is also a member of the Blackstone Growth Investment Committee and Chairman of the Portfolio Committee.
Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Jagannath was a founding Partner of Navab Capital Partners (NCP), where he was Head of Healthcare and a member of NCP’s Management and Investment Committees. Prior to NCP, he was a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, focused on healthcare investments in Carlyle’s flagship US Buyout private equity fund. During his twelve years at Carlyle, Mr. Jagannath was a member of the teams which invested in One Medical Group, Pharmaceutical Product Development, X-Chem, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Healthscope Ltd., and HCR ManorCare. Previously, he worked at Genstar Capital and Thomas Weisel Capital Partners.
Mr. Jagannath currently serves on the Board of Directors of HealthEdge, Cryoport, ZO Skin Health, Headspace Health and Life Science Logistics and as a Board Observer of Medableand ConnectiveRx. He also serves on the Board of Visitors of the Duke University Pratt School of Engineering and on the Kellogg School of Management Private Equity Advisory Council, as well as on the Board of the Navy SEAL Foundation. Mr. Jagannath was previously a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr. Jagannath received a BSE in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering with a minor in Economics from Duke University, a J.D. from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, and an MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. After Duke, he was a Fulbright Scholar in Economic Development at the University of Zagreb in Croatia.
Jon Korngold
Global Co-Head of Technology Investing and Head of Blackstone Growth
Jon Korngold is the Global Co-Head of Technology Investing and Head of Blackstone Growth (BXG), which is focused on providing capital to companies seeking to manage the execution risks associated with high-growth environments. Jon is a member of both the BXG and Tactical Opportunities Investment Committees.
Prior to joining Blackstone in 2019, Jon was head of General Atlantic’s Global Financial Services and Healthcare sectors, Chairman of the firm’s Portfolio Committee, and was a member of the firm’s Management and Investment Committees. Jon also previously worked at Goldman Sachs in the Principal Investment Area and in the Mergers & Acquisitions groups in London and New York, respectively. Jon has spent extensive time in China, where he studied Mandarin Chinese at Peking University and did pro bono work for the U.S. Embassy’s Foreign Commercial Service in Beijing.
Jon is active with Harvard University, where he is a member of the Harvard College Fund’s Executive Committee and where he Co-Chairs fundraising for his College class. In addition, he is a member of The Council on Foreign Relations, has been an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School, a member of the Rockefeller University Council, a member of the New York Weill Cornell Council, a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, a Commissioned Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the American Museum of Natural History’s Advisory Council. Jon has also served as a Trustee of the Cleveland Clinic, of The Dalton School, of The Central Park Conservancy and of the 92nd Street Y, among other institutions.
Jon has also been recognized for his efforts in the financial services sector, including having been ranked #1 in Institutional Investor’s list of global Financial Technology dealmakers on multiple occasions.
He received an AB in Economics from Harvard College, graduating with Honors, and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
