    Blackstone’s Own Iron Chefs Raise Thousands for Cancer Research

    On April 11th, Blackstone employees faced off to cook for a cure. The event, hosted by Blackstone’s Innovations and Infrastructure team, raised $3,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training initiative. Since 2008, Blackstone has raised a total of $1.3 million for Team in Training.

    We are proud to announce that Blackstone has won in five separate categories in the 2012 Global Private Equity Real Estate Awards. Blackstone was awarded Global Firm of the Year; Global Capital Raise of the Year for the $13.3 billion close of Blackstone Real Estate Partners VII; North American Deal of the Year for the purchase of the CalWest portfolio, and European Exit of the Year for the sale of the UK student housing business, Nido. Additionally, Blackstone’s Park Hill Real Estate Group was awarded North American Placement Agent of the Year.

    Blackstone’s Chief Financial Officer Laurence Tosi Honored by the Georgetown University Wall Street Alliance

    Blackstone’s Chief Financial Officer, Laurence Tosi (L.T.), was honored by the Georgetown University Wall Street Alliance for his mentorship and scholarship support of incoming and current Georgetown students. The former Georgetown university student was the youngest recipient to be honored by the Wall Street Alliance at the organization’s annual dinner, which raised a record $1.6 million this year. In recognition of his achievement, Georgetown University put together a video about L.T.’s career path and philanthropic work.     Blackstone Commissions Hydroelectric Power Station in Uganda

    On October 8th of 2012, Blackstone commissioned the Bujagali Hydroelectric Power Station in Uganda at an event attended by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, The Aga Khan, leaders from neighboring countries and the citizens of Uganda. The occasion marked the culmination of a project that began more than two decades ago.

    Blackstone Welcomes Cadets from the United States Coast Guard Academy

    Approximately 20 United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) cadets spent an afternoon touring Blackstone’s offices in New York and meeting with investment professionals from across the firm to gain career advice and guidance from military service academy alumni working at Blackstone. The cadets were predominately junior and senior classman, who are members of USCGA’s investment club. Blackstone participants included employees from our placement agent Park Hill, Hedge Fund Solutions, Real Estate, Credit (GSO), and Private Equity.

    Today, employees from Blackstone joined New York Giant Chris Canty and New York City Department of Education Chancellor Dennis Walcott to announce a long-term mentorship program, which will start this academic year. The newly formed partnership ties together mentoring programs developed by The Chris Canty Foundation and the New York City Department of Education. Blackstone employees will act as program mentors.
