Blackstone Employees Raise Over $932,000 for 2011 United Way Campaign

Blackstone employees raised more than $932,000 for the 2011 United Way Campaign, bringing the total amount raised by the firm to nearly $4 million since 2001. This year’s record -setting gift was made possible by 100% participation from the firm’s senior managing directors and almost 90% participation from employees in our New York office.

Blackstone is pleased to support the invaluable work of the United Way.  United Way-led initiatives improve the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children by:

  • combating childhood obesity by engaging young children, families and staff at Head Start centers in learning about the importance of healthy eating and exercise;
  • promoting early grade literacy – a key foundation for success in middle school and beyond; and
  • helping at-risk youth make a smooth transition into high school and stay on track to on-time graduation.

Laurence Tosi, Blackstone’s CFO, who was honored at the United Way of New York City’s Gridiron Gala, said, “Blackstone has a strong culture of giving back to the community through volunteerism and service, which includes year-round involvement in the work of United Way of New York City.”
