Congratulations Manhao Tang – 2015 Peter G. Peterson Award Recipient

Last week, Tony James, President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone, presented the 2015 Peter G. Peterson Award to Manhao Tang, a second year Analyst in Blackstone’s Real Estate Debt Strategies group in the London office.

The Peter G. Peterson Award, named in honor of Blackstone’s Co-Founder and former Chairman, is given annually to a Blackstone employee who exemplifies excellence in business and a commitment to service. This individual, through his or her dedication to others, embodies and enacts the values of the firm and its founders.

This year’s award recipient, Manhao Tang, is no exception. Tang’s personal philanthropy encourages the next generation of students in Singapore to invest in their communities through volunteering and strategic giving. Through the Giving Game, a project founded by Tang, groups of students ages 13 to 18 are given funds and tasked with researching, evaluating, and selecting a charity to support. Challenging students to think critically and creatively, this process promotes effective giving and exposes students to civic engagement from a young age.

In addition to founding the Giving Game project, Manhao Tang supports the work of multiple organizations that have a profound impact on the developing world. Tang is a longtime supporter of the Against Malaria Foundation, an organization that provides long-lasting insecticidal nets to populations at a high risk of malaria, as well as theSchistosomiasis Control Initiative, an organization that works with governments in sub-Saharan Africa to create or scale programs that treat schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths (STHs).

As part of the Peter G. Peterson Award, the Blackstone Charitable Foundation is pleased to recognize the efforts of Manhao Tang with a $10,000 gift to the charity of Tang’s choosing.

Manhao Tang joins the ranks of Blackstone’s former Peter G. Peterson awardees. Past recipient includes Kyle Negrete of GSO, Michael Cannizzo of Innovations and Infrastructure, Alicia Corbin of the Park Hill Group, Christine Veschi of Investor Relations and Business Development, Scott Soussa of BAAM, Garfield DeBarros of Innovations and Infrastructure, and Erin Sprague of BAAM.
