On June 26th, the inaugural class of 56 scholars graduated from Eagle Academy at Ocean Hill. Over the past 7 years, since the founding of the program, the Blackstone Charitable Foundation has fostered a strong relationship with Eagle Academy faculty, staff, and students. In honor of the Class of 2015, the Blackstone Charitable Foundation will donate $20,015 to be used for technological upgrades on campus.
In a note to congratulate the graduating class, Amy Stursberg, the Executive Director of the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, said, “My sincerest congratulations to the Class of 2015, and to the teachers, family and friends who got you here. I am in awe of all that you have accomplished.”
85% of the graduating scholars will attend universities around the country, and together they have received $2.5 million in college scholarship funding. A majority of the graduates will be the first generation in their family to attend college, and the 91% high school graduation rate for the class is more than triple the city average for Black and Latino males.
