Blackstone employees race to raise over $1.2 million for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

On June 5th the Blackstone Bike Team completed a 100-mile bike ride around Lake Tahoe in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The 2011 Blackstone Bike Team raised $237,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) bringing the total raised by the firm and its employees since 2008 to over $1,200,000. This year, Team Blackstone was once again the #1 corporate fund raising team and the the largest cycling team.

The LLS/TNT program raises much needed funds to help identify cures for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkins Lymphoma and Myeloma, and for improving the quality of life of patients and their families.

The 2011 Blackstone Bike Team was composed of 55 riders from all over the firm including several friends and family. The team rode in memory of colleagues Craig Powell and Brian Nabatian, whose lives were taken prematurely.

LLS presented Blackstone with its fourth award for its extraordinary efforts in raising much needed funds and for once again being the top corporate fundraiser. The LLS’s researcher’s grant for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), research performed by Dr. Giovanni Roti, will be funded in Blackstone’s name.  ALL is the most common type of cancer in one to seven year old children.
