The Blackstone Veterans Initiative
The Blackstone Veterans Initiative is comprised of current and former portfolio companies that have committed to hiring veterans, active duty and veteran spouses, and caregivers of veterans. To support companies that join, the Initiative hosts an annual Summit, quarterly calls and working groups to focus on best practices in sourcing, hiring, training, integrating, and developing veterans. Companies and other strategic partners that have affirmed their commitment to the Veterans Initiative may remain involved even after Blackstone’s exit. There are also opportunities for former Blackstone portfolio companies, current service suppliers and strategic partners to coordinate efforts with the Blackstone Veterans Initiative.
When we launched the program in 2013 in partnership with the White House, we developed objectives from conversations with key stakeholders, including our portfolio company CEOs, CHROs, Veterans Initiative Champions, as well as members of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Labor and the Department of Defense. We also incorporated input from strategic vendor partners, existing veteran hiring coalitions and Blackstone personnel. Together we determined that Blackstone's Veterans Initiative will leverage Blackstone’s network to meet the following objectives:
- Strengthen company hiring capabilities
- Forge strategic hiring and networking partnerships
- Create and disseminate best practices across the network
