Michael B. Purvis is a Managing Director and Head of Investment Research of the Hedge Fund Solutions Group.

Mr. Purvis spearheads research on investment strategies and analysis of the risk, reward and sizing of the strategies. He is also involved in hedge fund manager risk analysis as well as manager evaluation, selection and monitoring.  He serves on the Investment Committees for Blackstone Alternative Asset Management, Blackstone Strategic Alliance and Blackstone Strategic Opportunities.

Before joining Blackstone in 2001, Mr. Purvis served as a Senior Vice President at Dime Bancorp where he oversaw the valuation and hedging of a wide variety of fixed-income products and derivatives.  Prior to joining Dime Bancorp, Mr. Purvis managed the proprietary mortgage trading operation at NatWest Bank.  Prior to that, Mr. Purvis served as Treasurer of Security Capital Corp. 

Mr. Purvis holds an MS in Accounting from New York University and an AB in Economics from Princeton University.  Mr. Purvis is also a Certified Public Accountant.
