Twenty-nine Blackstone colleagues and friends recently ran the New York City Half Marathon as part of the Team in Training program raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The team is especially pleased to have been recognized as the Top Corporate Fundraising Team, with over $100,000 raised to support LLS's mission to help identify cures for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Myeloma. This is in addition to more than $1 million raised by Blackstone’s overall efforts since 2008.
The donations were sourced worldwide with participation from Blackstone’s New York, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Los Angeles offices, and also included a $10,000 donation from The Blackstone Charitable Foundation.
As a special recognition for the extraordinary effort of raising the money, the Blackstone team can have an LLS researcher’s grant funded in Blackstone’s name. These grants are typically given to talented young scientists who are deemed most likely to make the basic science and clinical discoveries that will produce new blood cancer treatments and diagnostics.
This is a very impressive milestone endeavor from the Half Marathon team – and during one of the harshest winters in recent memory as the backdrop for the training sessions to get ready for this endurance event!
This will give the Blackstone Bike Team extra incentive to work towards their inspiring goal of $300,000 as they currently train for their event in early June. To make a contribution in support of the Bike Team please visit www.bxbiketeam.com.
