Blackstone Hosts 2nd Annual Iron Chef Competition for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Last week, Blackstone employees traded their Excel models for chef hats in the second annual cook-off for a cause. The event raised more than $3,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.

Each year, about 100 employees participate in half marathons, marathons, and a 100-mile bike ride to raise money for blood cancer research, and in 2013, Blackstone was the largest corporate fundraiser for LLS, donating more than $400,000.

This year, employees prepared appetizers or desserts, which were taste-tested and judged by their coworkers.

Top prizes were awarded to Koo Koo Flan and BX Goldfish, a thinly sliced tuna belly with house-made mousse de foie gras and house-baked ficelle.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training is dedicated to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. Over the past 60 years, LLS has invested more than $875 million in developing better cancer treatment. Donations have helped find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.
